I’ve been a witness to what God can do in the most difficult situations. He is, after all, Sovereign. God literally has a bird’s-eye view of your situation. He has a valuable thing called ‘perspective’ that He wants to entrust to you so your mind may be renewed towards it. (Romans 12:2)
As humans, we have this basic idea of what we think God should be doing in our difficult circumstances. We believe that He is supposed to heal it, take it away, make it better and replace it with glorious days of sunshine and rainbows. Yes, God can do all those things. And He did them multiple times and still do. No matter what you believe He should be doing, I firmly believe we are the ones who should be trusting in His will. His will isn’t always for us to get out of our situation immediately. Sometimes, God wants to walk us through something. I did a Bible study on James a while back and came across a comment on James’ bold statement about trials and tribulation. He asks us to consider it pure joy. The comment on this was: it is deep roots that cannot be produced in any other way.
I have known God to help us remember lessons through miraculous events in our lives. Though the Holy Spirit is often called the ‘Still Small Voice’, God does not do anything silently. When we pray in secret, He answers in public. When a miracle happens, people are bound to know. I believe that every tough situation we encounter, is supposed to not only touch our own lives; but touch the lives of those around us. The circumstances you are facing might be a blessing in disguise. Does it sound too crazy to say that?
Because we are so boxed in when a difficult situation comes, we cannot see the bigger picture. God has a bird’s-eye view. He sees the solution. He sees the change it is going to bring in your life. He sees the joy you will have in your victory.
You might be reading this and make no sense of it because of the tremendous heartache you’ve had to endure because of your circumstances. God wants for us to live a life of joy and balance and peace. But, because God has a bird’s-eye view and we don’t, God sees beyond the present and the difficulties you face now. He sees into your life’s story. He sees the witness you will be to all He has planned for you. He promises us in Jeremiah 29:11 that He has plans to prosper us. How many Biblical heroes can you think of that only prospered because God allowed them to be in a situation ripe for a miracle? Abraham, Moses, Daniel, Ruth, Peter and so many more. Ultimately John the disciple was on the island of Patmos in exile when the great Revelation was given to him by God.
Everyone wants miracles, but no one wants to be in the situation ripe for a miracle. My Pastor once had a very important statement for us and it stuck with me. He said that people want more of God’s hand than they want God. Trust me when I tell you, it isn’t easy to pray for God’s will to be done when you know that His will might be to allow you to be in that situation a little bit longer. I firmly believe that the prayer Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane was anything but easy. Jesus asks the Father something logic. But He also asks that the Father’s will be done and not His.
You should know that, ultimately, you will receive victory if you are in Christ. He will make sure of that. Whether you receive your victory on this earth or in heaven, God will not allow satan to win in your life. In the mean while, you need to trust Him. You need to follow His instructions written in His Word and you need to endure to the end. The precious Holy Spirit living inside of you gives you the power to do just that. Prayer is the key. Be in constant communication with God. He has never asked you to walk through life alone. He promised His disciples that He will be with them and that promise is the same for you and me.
May you trust Him through the storm. May you be transformed by it and may the Lord renew your mind so you may also have new perspective. In Jesus Name, Amen!
