His Love Never Fails

his love through trials

His love never fails! Never ever. It’s understandable. The trials we face on a daily basis as Christians, is tough enough. Add to that mental health problems, and you have an entire new story. But I am persuaded that God will never ever fail you. Why? Because He loves you.

One of the most beautiful Psalms I have ever read, is Psalms 23 – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

This is a hard place to be for any Christian. The desert, I mean. Oh, how we love the times of rejoicing and celebrating. “God has come through for me.” Some testify. But you’re not in that time yet. You are in the desert right now. The place where you feel the desire to be quenched with just a drop of heaven. “Does God even hear me!” You would say. “What if God abandoned me?” This desert has shaken you so much that you wonder if you’ve lost your faith.

May I cry with you? I get it. It’s hard. It’s really hard. I’ve been at that place where I just wanted to die, because I saw no point in suffering this long. My depression, anxiety, ADHD, Panic Disorder; everything became too much. Oh, but the precious Holy Spirit enlightened me. He enlightened my soul with assurance. We all need that.

God doesn’t lead us around the desert. He leads us through it. He forms us with lessons that we wouldn’t have chosen for ourselves. He leads us with His Word so we may see it in action. He forms a great testimony through us, one that will change many lives.

I asked my sister once why she thought I was going through this suffering. She told me: “Maybe its because God is teaching you to lean on Him instead of yourself.” This statement shook me. And it’s something I will never forget.

James shows us the benefit of trials. Frankly, his words are much better than mine: James 1:2-4 – My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

And then it hit me. God forms us in the desert. And if He forms us, He doesn’t leave us. And when the trial ends, He celebrates with us. His love never fails!

It might be hard to hear these words, but there is a purpose to your pain. If God loves you enough to form you through the desert, He loves you enough to bring you out. For the God of the valley is still God of the mountain. The God of the day is still God in the night.

Have faith dear friend. He has never left your side. I know that right now, a taste of heaven would keep you going. But may the Holy Spirit work through this post to encourage you not to give up.
